Detective Sergeant Ian Wells from the Queensland Police Service presented a talk on Scams and Fraud for members of the Tamborine Sustainable Gardeners Society at their meeting.
Detective Sergeant Ian has been involved in the investigation of financial and cybercrime with a specific focus on cybercrime prevention and public engagement.
Ian had an easy-to-follow presentation revealing that there is a scam for everyone, no matter how careful we think we are! He discussed online and mobile phone-based scams, online safety for adults, reducing the risk of being scammed, securing online presence and where to get help when scammed.
Many people made notes and vowed to go home and make some changes to their online presence. The presentation was thought provoking, compelling and useful!
