Remembrance Day Tamborine 2023

Community Gathers @ Tamborine Cenotaph

Saturday 11th of November 2023 saw community members from Tamborine and the local area attend the Tamborine Cenotaph to commemorate Remembrance Day. The ceremony was hosted by the Tamborine Cenotaph Committee, supported by the Tamborine & District Citizens Association Inc, and catered by the Tamborine Village Lions Club. The service was MC’d by Syd Norman (Merchant Navy).
The mounting and dismounting of the Catafalque party was commissioned by the Scenic Rim Regional Cadets, and members of the Tamborine Mountain Scouts group lowered and raised the flags. The congregation was lead in prayer by Reverend Helen Paget (St George’s Anglican Church). Laying of the wreaths was undertaken by members of local groups and the public. The Commemorative Address and Ode of Remembrance were given by Sergeant Bradley Mullins (Land Intelligence Wing, Kokoda Barracks). Vocalist Hannah Grace was struck down and lost her voice, so Shari Hughes from Tamborine Pet Farmstay stepped in at the very last minute to save the day to perform the Hymns and National Anthems of the UK and Australia, with Adrian Butcher on the audio desk. Trumpeter Julius Fraser performed The Last Post and Rouse.
Community members then gathered for morning tea by the Lions in the Tamborine Memorial Hall.

Thank you to all those who attended, and took part. Lest we forget those who serve.
