Our Town Crier Recognises Historic Moment

On Saturday 6 May 2023 King Charles III was crowned, along with Camilla, the Queen Consort – a historic moment observed across the world. The Coronation Ceremony took place in the Westminster Abbey in London, site of British coronations since 1066. A total of 38 coronation services have taken place so far in the church, including Queen Elizabeth II’s in 1953.
During the formal, symbolic ceremony, in recognition of the Monarch’s ascension to the throne, King Charles III was crowned and presented with various ceremonial and religious objects to mark his role as the head of the Church of England.
The occasion was also recognised and proclaimed by Syd Norman, our very own Town Crier, and Consort Pauline Norman who performed three proclamations on the day, first outside of the Scenic Rim council in Beaudesert, and then two in Gallery Walk on Tamborine Mountain – much to the delight of passerbys!
