Annual Showjumping Event Hosted In Tamborine

Diversity Of Riders Attend Tamborine Pony Club Event!

Tamborine Pony Club Members (L to R): Brooke Harman, Tracey Winmill, Matilda Winn, Ila McDonald, Yas Jessop, Indy Aitkens, & Imogen Box

Tamborine Pony Club recently hosted their annual Jumping Equitation and Showjumping competitions over two days. There was a good representation from Clubs within our Zone (Tamborine, Greenbank, Jimboomba, Oxenford, Nerang, Beaudesert, Tallebudgera, Rathdowney, Mudgeeraba, Fassifern and Southport). There were also riders from other clubs outside our Zone, with the farthest being from Warwick and Dayboro! It is great to see our events supported and it is good to have a diversity of riders.

Both days ran well. It was pleasing to see the increase in numbers for the Jumping Equitation competition as this is a competition which judges the rider and horse as they jump a course and is a great training tool as they progress in their showjumping. The Showjumping Competition ran well with riders presenting themselves to the Showjumping judges promptly. We were very lucky with the rain and did not get any large falls and the grounds were in excellent condition. The courses, designed by the coursebuilders, also were varied and presented a challenge.

Many thanks to Flowtech National, Calm Healthy Horses and Tamborine Village Traders for their donations which enabled the Club to have some great prizes for the winners.

The Bearded Dragon Boutique Hotel was the major sponsor of the Showjumping, with the winner of each Official Showjumping class receiving a lovely chair: many thanks to the Bearded Dragon for their continued support of this event. Many thanks to the Sand and Soil Company for their support with the cost of our rosettes: the riders enjoyed getting these momentoes.

Overall Winners of Classes (L to R): Holly Hodges [13-U26, 90cm]; Kylie Eastwell [13-U26 70cm]; Katelyn Burgess [13-U26, 1.0/1.1m]; Mia Mallett [12&U, 60cm]; Abi Walsh [13-U26, 80cm]; Liara Cumming [12&U, 70cm] (Chris Seen Photography)

This year, our Showjumping also had sponsorship from Qld Off The Track. We were able to give the highest placed OTT horse, in each class, a lovely rosette and a wonderful halter with engraving on it. The sponsorship from Qld Racing is far flung and is definitely promoting the use of thoroughbreds in a life after racing.

QOTT Winners [highest in each class] (L to R): Annie Horn, Runcorn; Hayden Taylor, Runcorn; Kylie Eastwell, Brookfield; Maddy Burke, Dayboro; Abi Walsh, Fassifern; Angel Ferguson, Oxenford; Molly Smith, North Star (Chris Seen Photography)

The Club is also having an event unique to our Club: the Tamborine Treble. This is for highest placed OTT horse and non-OTT horse at three of our competitions: the Jumping Equitation and Showjumping which have occurred and our upcoming ODE on 23 April 2023. Prizes will be for the winner and runner up in the groups, 12 Yrs & Under and 13 Yrs and over. It was a great effort by the members, past and present, of Tamborine Pony Club who set up, organised, and ran both days.
