Cadets Pay Respect To Queen

Guarding The Flag A Great Honour …

Following the passing of the Queen – the longest-reigning British monarch, who died at the age of 96 at Balmoral Castle in Aberdeenshire, Scotland on 8 September 2022 – the Scenic Rim Regional Cadet unit performed the ceremony of ‘Guard Of The Flag’ in order to pay respect to the Queen.

In honour of the Queen, Town Crier Syd Norman paid tribute at the parade by calling out the announcement of her passing and ‘cloaking’ his bell for fourteen days.

Members of the Cadets changed the Guard Of Honour every 30 minutes for the entirety of the parade. During the ceremony, three guards remain motionless, holding traditional firearms of a Steyr and a .303 Rifle, standing guard of the lowered flag, for a total of 5 changes throughout the parade. It is a great honour for those who are chosen to train, prepare, and aspire to the roll.

A very special tribute.
