Blowup Beds & Birdie Books!

Disaster Recovery Kit Installed @ Hall

The flooding rains at the start of the year saw the evacuation of a number of people who were taken to emergency Recovery Centres in the Scenic Rim. At the time, as the Recovery Centres were in the process of being setup, Community Disaster Volunteers, who were called in to assist, found themselves without key resources with some evacuees having to sleep on the floor or in chairs!

The Scenic Rim Regional Council have now presented Disaster Recovery Kits to Recovery Centres across Scenic Rim, which include: Blow Up Beds with a Pump, Connecting Community ‘Icebreaker Cards’, Kids Activity Books and Colouring Pencils to help keep children entertained, and the series of ‘Birdie Books’ which can also assist in helping them to understand what has happened and why they are in a Recovery Centre.

Thank you Scenic Rim Council for the Kit!
