With some 200,000 visitors and guests passing through Cedar Creek Lodges at Thunderbird Park each year, owner Judi Minnikin had a vision to transform the Lobby and Lounge Bar walls into an exhibition space to showcase beautiful artworks of Scenic Rim artists.

The vision became a reality when The Gallery was officially opened with husband Bob at an invitation-only event of 90 art enthusiasts on Wednesday, 3rd November by the Hon. Dame Quentin Bryce AD CVO.

Judi Minnikin said “We are hopeful that this will translate into our artists’ works being purchased by art lovers from near and far.” Artists, whose works currently adorn the walls of The Gallery, are: Louise Grove Wiechers (The Gallery Curator), Ron Bryant, Trish Price, Helen Griffin, Susan Lhamo, Debaran Wright, and Cassi Ashton-Thomas.

The opening was attended by dignitaries of the Scenic Rim area including Mayor Greg Christensen, State Member Jon Krause MP, Div 2 Councillor Jeff McConnell, Div 3 Councillor Virginia West, as well as many local business owners. Guests viewed the artworks while enjoying canapes and wine, with Judi, Bob and Curator Louise proudly showing at the end of the evening
empty walls where pieces had been displayed and sold.
