Get into the Festive Season with Council’s Movies in the Park

It’s time to get out the picnic blankets and camp chairs for a night of fun under the stars with Scenic Rim Regional Council set to host three Movies in the Park events this month.

Families are invited to get into the festive season early with the animated movie Arthur Christmas screening in Boonah, Tamborine Mountain and Beaudesert.

Scenic Rim Mayor Greg Christensen is encouraging movie lovers of all ages to join in the fun.

“Whether you’re young or just young at heart, everyone is sure to have a fun-filled evening with lots of laughs as you enjoy this heartfelt Christmas movie,” he said.

“Council is committed to hosting free family entertainment nights like this as not only does it give families the chance to enjoy a night out without breaking the bank, but it also helps to bring the wider community together.

“I hope you will join us in celebrating the spirit of Christmas alongside family, friends and neighbours.”

Arthur Christmas tells the tale of Santa’s young son Arthur, who sets out on a crazy mission to deliver a present to a young girl who mistakenly didn’t receive one under the tree. With retired Grandsanta, a rebellious young elf, an old sleigh and some untrained reindeer, Arthur sets out on his mission in a bid to save the magic of Christmas.

The Free Movies in the Park will screen at 6.30pm on the following dates at these locations:

  • Saturday 20 November: Coronation Park, Boonah.
  • Saturday 27 November: Tamborine Mountain Showgrounds.
  • Saturday 4 December: Jubilee Park, Beaudesert.

At each location local clubs will be selling food and drinks and Council will have free fruit and giveaways. This is a COVID-Safe event where families can comfortably be socially distanced and there will be Check in QLD barcodes for use with the App. Stay home if you’re feeling unwell, if you have COVID-19 symptoms, please get tested.
