Naidoc Week Celebrated At Cedar Creek State School

Naidoc Week was celebrated at Cedar Creek State School with a Star Gazing Event for students and their families.
A range of delicious food was provided by the school’s P&C, with a special display of cooking, featuring bush food ingredients, by Ben and Anita from the Albert Valley Wilderness Society. The bush tucker herbs and spices included strawberry gum, salt bush, and lemon myrtle, and the baked goods were truffles, brownies, damper and sour dough – yummy! The bush tucker herbs and spices were donated by Taste Australia.

The Jimbelungaree Dumunn Dance Troop performed for an appreciative audience, and there were also displays of Atefacts.

Children, as well, greatly enjoyed the activity of creating a ‘Community Hand Print’ Banner. Many of the students attend an after school group called the ‘Indigi Club’ which is held on Thursday afternoons by Aunties Kellie, Robyn and Nic. A warm and wonderful evening was enjoyed by all who attended.
