Yarrabilba To Host Cancer Council Fundraiser

Cancer Council Queensland’s Relay for Life fundraiser is coming to Yarrabilba in October this year.
The seven-hour walking event will be held on 23 October 2021 on the oval of San Damiano College.
Yarrabilba Relay for Life Chairperson Penny Goodall said the committee is excited about putting on a great community event and raising funds for a worthwhile cause”.
“We want the whole community to get involved” Ms Goodall said. “Participants are invited to help raise funds in the leadup to a special day filled with remembrance, fun, hope and humour. We already have x teams signed up and have set an overall fundraising goal of $30,000.”
Logan City Councillor Laurie Koranski attended the inaugural meeting of the Yarrabilba Relay for Life Committee.
Cr Koranski said she had volunteered for the Jimboomba Cancer Council committee for several years and chaired the inaugural City of Logan Relay for Life prior to being elected in 2016. The former Cancer Council ambassador said she was thrilled to lend her support to the Yarrabilba Relay as a patron for the event.
“One in two Queenslanders will face a cancer diagnosis in their lifetimes” Councillor Laurie Koranski said said. “Relay gives the community opportunity to show their support by raising vitally needed funds that go toward research and services to assist those battling cancer. It’s awesome to see our local schools and community groups already getting behind this great cause”
