A Touch Of Singapore!

Fundraising In The Mountains

The Singapore Club of Queensland held its annual club camp at the Mt Tambourine Conference Centre over the long May Day weekend. Besides the usual activities of socializing, eating, sightseeing, shopping, playing games, cooking demonstrations, and basically have a fun and relaxing time, they also held a fundraising High Tea to raise funds for their nominated Charity – Rosies – Friends on the Street. Representatives of Rosies also attended the Saturday afternoon event.
This year, guests were specially treated to a colourful fashion show of stunning Singapore cultural wear and wedding costumes for “A Touch of Singapore”. The younger members of the club and the students from UQ Singapore Students’ Society, who came up for the camp this year, were roped in to model all the beautiful costumes. About 50 guests were treated to an array of delicious afternoon tea delights and also to a lucky draw of prizes kindly donated by the club, UQSSS and businesses from the Mt Tambourine Gallery Walk – Funny Honey and WitchScents.
Susan Neve, President of the SCoQ said “It really warms my heart to know that even as a small community, we can come together to do something worthwhile to help others in need”. Susan also sold hand knitted beanies during the camp and donated all the proceeds to the fundraiser.
A total of $1000 was collectively donated by the Singapore Club of Queensland and attendees at the event to Rosies Friends on the Street, to help the homeless
