Community Gathers @ Tamborine Cenotaph

Remembrance Day Service 2022

Many residents from Tamborine and the local area attended the Tamborine Cenotaph on Friday 11th of November 2022 to commemorate Remembrance Day. The ceremony was organised by the Tamborine Cenotaph Committee in conjunction with the Tamborine & District Citizens Association Inc and the Tamborine Village Lions Club, and MC’d by Denise Brown.

The mounting and dismounting of the Catafalque party was commissioned by the Scenic Rim Regional Cadets, and members of the Tamborine Mountain Scouts group lowered and raised the flags. The congregation was lead in prayer by Rev Tom Hunton who also ordered the laying of the wreaths by members of local groups and the public, and the Commemorative Address and Ode of Remembrance were given by Captain Russell Burrell. Vocalist Hannah Grace performed the Hymns and National Anthems of the UK and Australia, and music was performed by Piper Glen Furguson.

Members of the community then gathered for morning tea by the Lions in the hall.

It was an honour to pay homage to those who have sacrificed. Thank you to all those who attended, and to the organisers.

Lest we forget.
