Double Truck Accident On M1

Causes Traffic Jam Through Tamborine …

In the last week of August, a B-double quarry truck rear ended a gas tanker on the M1 Motorway near Pimpama. The truck rolled and spilled its load of gravel onto the motorway (yet another one!).

Remarkably, no one was seriously injured, but the Queensland Police advised motorists travelling southbound from the Brisbane or Logan areas to either delay travelling or to take an alternative route.

This redirection of traffic caused a subsequent massive ‘knock on effect’ to the local area with traffic backed up for a reported, at least, 6 kilometres from Cedar Creek to Tamborine. Redirected traffic also made its way through Canungra to further culimate at the Tamborine round-a-bout. Both alternative routes causing at least a 20 minute delay in either direction.

With recent high incident of accidents on local roads, Queensland Police urge motorists to take extra care.
