BUDGET
We start the process of Budget deliberations next week and it looks to be an interesting process. Given the hardship that the Scenic Rim has suffered in the last 3 years with severe flooding, drought, bushfires and to still be drought declared going into this years dry winter months, and now to top it off, we have the debilitating effects of the extended severe lockdown measures enforced on us by the State Govt for the COVID19 virus which has severely impacted our small business and tourism industry. The next budget will need to be sensitive to the impact of the last 3 years and the COVID19 virus that the Scenic Rim community has had to endure.
Residents, farmers and businesses are hurting and I am hearing the pain that is in the community. You can be rest assured that I will not blindly follow the recommendations that come from Council.

COMMUNITY AND SPORTING GROUPS
I am hearing from a lot of Community and Sporting groups that are hurting financially during this lockdown where income has dried up however the expenses for maintaining facilities or grounds has not. I have seen no assistance coming from State Govt to support these vital community groups who only run with the dedication of hard working volunteers. I have contacted our local member Jon Krause and he is approaching the State Govt with my concerns. If your Group /Club is in need of assistance please contact Council and let us know of your situation so that we can assist or help you get assistance.

Thought Of The Day
You must be the change you wish to see in the world. Ghandi
