DESCRIPTION:Author’s Journey Of Discovery Sheds New Light On Queensland’s History \nAuthor Karen Rosser\, a fourth-generation member of one of Tamborine Mountain’s pioneering families\, has brought history to life through the story of The Mountain – known by its traditional custodians the Wangerriburra as Wangalpong – from its violent birth from the Tweed Volcano millions of years ago to the birth of Queensland in 1859. \nThe book\, in which The Mountain is personified as a central character that loomed large in the lives of the Wangerriburra people\, will be launched by Under the Greenwood Tree bookshop on Sunday 4 June at the Zamia Theatre\, Tamborine Mountain. \nThere\, Karen will share the story of her research that sheds new light on Queensland’s early history and some of its key figures\, including explorer and Commandant\, Captain Patrick Logan. \nThe book launch\, including the author’s talk and light refreshments\, will be held at the Zamia Theatre\, Main Street\, Tamborine Mountain\, on Sunday 4 June at 2.30pm.\nFor further information\, or to arrange an interview with the author\, phone Under the Greenwood Tree on 0424 586 000 or Karen Rosser 0419 792 682. \nAbout the Author Karen Rosser\nKaren Rosser is a fourth-generation Tamborine Mountain local who grew up on a dairy farm on the South End. Her grandfather\, Stan Rosser\, was just five years old when his family came to The Mountain in 1896\, and her father Allan Rosser\, aged 97\, still lives there today. An avid historian and bush lover who has travelled extensively\, Karen is a retired science and maths teacher who now lives in North Queensland with her husband Darby Monro.

SUMMARY:Tamborine Mountain Botanic Gardens Celebrates 40 Years
DESCRIPTION:Botanic Gardens Celebrates 40 Years With Giant Plant Sale And Special Events – Sunday\, 28 May \nTamborine Mountain Regional Botanic Gardens is celebrating 40 years of history with a special event on Sunday\, 28 May! \nThe main activity is a fantastic plant sale prepared by the Gardens’ legendary Potty Potters. Head Potter Bobby White says the team has assembled a wide variety including beautiful begonias\, a great collection of succulents that are certain to please avid gardeners and a special selection of orchids already mounted on logs. \nEvents in the gardens will include fun for children in Sooty Owl’s Creekside Trail\, musical entertainment including the magnificent Bella A’capella choir who will sing for about an hour from 10am as well as some of the Mountain’s best jazz musicians and\, of course\, a succulent sausage sizzle. \nEvents will range across the Gardens with the Plant Sale at the newly paved service area at the southern end of the Gardens. Simply follow the signs across the stone bridge from the car park and along the main road. Cash and card services are available. \nA highlight of the day will be the special art raffle of a beautiful still life painting by Barbara Briers and donated by her widower Alfred Briers specifically to help raise funds for the volunteers’ ongoing work. Tickets for the raffle are $2 on sale at the Potters pavilion in the service area every Wednesday and Thursday morning during May and on Sunday 28 May before the raffle draw at 2pm. \nEveryone is welcome to celebrate with the Gardens volunteers. Bring a picnic\, enjoy the wonderful environment and be involved in the activities.

SUMMARY:Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride 2023
DESCRIPTION:The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride unites classic and vintage style motorcycle riders all over the world to raise funds and awareness for prostate cancer research and men’s mental health. The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride was founded in Sydney\, Australia in 2012 by Mark Hawwa. After inspiration from a photograph featuring classic suits and vintage motorcycles\, Mark decided a themed ride would be a great way to combat the often-negative stereotype of motorcyclists and connect the global motorcycling community and to raise funds for a cause important to every rider.\nThe Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride is focused on bringing people together\, encouraging folks to connect with their fellow gentlefolk and ride together. Community and social connections are vital for mental health\, so this year will look to bring its global community together in over 700 cities and 100 countries in celebration of style\, motorcycles\, and men’s health. The 2023 Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride on Sunday\, 21 May is coming to Tamborine Mountain. Up to fifty riders\, all dressed dapper on classic motorcycles\, will be riding on the mountain. \nRegistrations to take part in the ride are now open on the DGR website. http://www.gentlemansride.com/

DESCRIPTION:Tamborine Sustainable Gardeners Society Inc \nPRESENTATION \nJoin Us For A Talk By Dr John Quayle: \n\nEnvironmental protection of our remaining fragile ecosystem should be a priority for us all.\nWe must reduce our chemical & fungal inputs so our natural environment can get back into balance.\nHear about ecosystem destruction examples from the Amazon\, Asia\, Germany\, UK\, and Indonesia and how we can prevent this happening in our own backyards.\nWe will discuss permaculture principals that will help us achieve this for those with only a veranda deck or those who have a small backyard garden or those with larger acreage.\nLearn about regenerative agriculture and the incredible regenerative effect it can have on your land and the costs /benefits of moving toward more sustainable practices.\nHear how you can develop a carbon sequestration program for those on larger acreages or increase your soil carbon if even on a small area.\nWe must learn to live in harmony with Nature as our friend and not take Nature for granted.\n\nWe must always remember:\nWe Need Nature- Nature Does Not Need Us
